I needed help with my German shepherd. She got sick and needed to be put down was told they could not help me because I was not a client very up setting

I woke up to my dog chocking on something and had to stick my fingers down his throat and my dog was still dry gagging like there was something in his airway. I tried a couple things but seemed like he was in distress. Drove to the pet HOSPITAL, in tears with my puppy in my hands. I explained what had happened and they asked if I was a patient and I had told them I was from out of town. They told me better luck in Durango and that they weren’t expecting new pets even in emergency’s. No puppy could make it a hour+ drive if they were in distress. Very disappointing that they are the people that “care” for all pets.

We had an excellent experience here! It took a few months before they could accept my dog as a client, but the wait was absolutely worth it. If you’re not already established, I recommend calling well in advance to secure a spot. There are vets in Dolores and Mancos as well, but they also tend to have waitlists.
