I haven’t spent much time in the valley, and met Dr. Dennison and his staff by chance as they were the only office with availability for a sudden and urgent need for care for my cat Billie. I am incredibly grateful that I did, because I have come to know that Dr. Dennison is a man of integrity and compassion and stands by his work. He even called me personally after hours to inquire as to Billie’s health and response to treatments.
I also learned that my boy kitty was actually a girl kitty! Thankfully the name still worked (she has a sister named Jean). The doctor, staff, and I have all had a fun time around that situation! The staff here is friendly and equally compassionate, and this is the best experience I have had with a veterinary clinic.
I've been "vet shopping" for my 3 senior dogs since our amazing vet retired, and I have some crazy, serious horror stories of corporate vets around here. Not Plateau Valley. They are what a vet SHOULD be! Easy to get in, even same day for a minimal upcharge. Compassionate, knowledgable vets (I've seen 2 now, both were great) that use common sense approaches. Here's an example, I brought my Min Pin in with, what I thought, was a broken leg. (Or, something. Knew it had to due with the leg.) She was really sick. Had a fever and a pretty bad abscess that had gotten infected and was near the joint. (Bad news, very scary). The vet we saw worked fast, got her xrays, lanced it, and gave us options. "You can do a full work up, costing thousands, but, I actually truly believe I cleared it, we could also give antibiotics and lower her fever, and probiotics, and come back if it gets worse, look out for x,y,z, and if x happens, emergency vet." Including the same day appointment, lots of meds, exam, lancing, and xrays, we walked away for $500. We came in a week later, and confirmed she is FINE! The treatment worked and we didn't have to take out a small loan to save the dog's life. Because of this, they will always get my business. Corporate vets, take notice, due to their reasonable rates, paired with brilliant Vets, amazing staff, and generally caring attitudes mean they'll get all my business forever. I’m editing my review here for further clarification. I booked an appointment with Dr Dennison for cleaning my dog’s teeth on Monday, July 6, 2026. I booked the appointment weeks in advance with Dr Dennison. Come to find out, Dr Dennison didn’t even see my dog and had one of his staff (presumably a vet tech) perform the whole procedure. The original estimate was $440-$510. When I got there to check in, the vet tech gave me an estimate to sign and date ranging from approximately $500-$1000, which I wouldn’t sign. So he left the room and came back with a revised estimate ranging from $386-$497. I signed it and ended up paying $476 with my senior discount. I first took my dog there to get a couple vaccines in early June and noticed on that bill that they charge an additional $39 fee for a vet tech in addition to the $87 office visit charge for seeing the vet, and never disclose that add-on vet tech charge when you call to book an appointment with the vet. So actually, you pay $126 for an office visit rather than the $87 quoted over the phone when booking an appointment.
When I booked the teeth cleaning appointment directly with Dr Dennison in person during my dog’s vaccination visit, I expected to see him, not a vet tech who never even introduced himself and kept telling me that Dr Dennison would be there shortly. As it turns out, when they emailed my dog’s records to me at my request the next day, Dr Dennison didn’t even see my dog. It was the vet tech (whose name I only learned from my dog’s records) that administered the anesthesia, cleaned her teeth and even pulled one of my dog’s teeth. I only learned about the pulled tooth after the fact when the vet tech called me to pick up my dog.
My dog is a young, healthy 3-year-old Cocker Spaniel who is on a great diet and gets plenty of exercise. She’s pretty young to be getting teeth pulled, so I said wanted to talk to Dr Dennison about why a tooth was pulled, and again was told that the vet was in an appointment and wasn’t available till 2 (it was 1:15). I said that I’d wait and showed up at 2 to pick up my dog and talk to Dr Dennison. But the same vet tech came into the room and proceeded to tell me that he pulled my dog’s tooth due to gingivitis in her gums. Dr Dennison actually came into the room briefly, but only to get a tool or something and had no intention of talking to me about my dog’s teeth cleaning. He was in and out of the room in a matter of minutes. The whole thing was weird. I paid the bill and left feeling sad and mad at the same time. I believe Dr Dennison is a good vet, which is why I went to him in the first place, but I didn’t get him, I got a vet tech instead. I can’t deal with this kind of dishonesty even if he is a good vet.
